Concord Background and History
As the state capital of New Hampshire, the city has a rich history as a part of the original 13 colonies. As early as 1725, the town was a part of the Massachusetts Bay colony known as Penacook Plantation. The city was initially settled in 1727 until it was determined in 1741 to fall under the jurisdiction of the Province of New Hampshire. After years of litigation, the city of Concord as known today was established as the capital of New Hampshire in 1808.
The city experienced its most significant industry boost through carriage making and granite quarrying after years of relying on printing to carry the economy. Around the turn of the 20th century, railroads and repair shops were scattered throughout the city, but eventually, the economy diversified. Today, the community is home to many industries including healthcare, amnufacturing, and insurance.
There’s a reason that people of all ages flock to the capital. With a diverse range of activities, no matter what your interest is, you should be able to find happiness here. The city enjoys a low unemployment rate along with low crime rates according to many studies. With plenty of outdoor activities just outside of the city, whether you enjoy fishing, kayaking, hiking, or simply like the smell of fresh air, you’ll feel at home here.
Concord is better known for the plethora of outdoor activities available to residents.
